This Week at Hop Angel

Come in and check out our new sound system. It sounds great. It really does.

On Tuesday at 8:30pm, it's Quizzo with Quiz Lord Ryan. You've got questions; he's got answers. Well actually it's the other way around. He's got questions and  hopefully you and your team have the answers.

Starkbierzeit continues this week with Troegs Troegenator on Thursday and Manayunk Yunkinator on Saturday. Both nights will feature tasty doppelbock beer and a keep the glass promo at 7pm, while supplies last.

Somebody told me that since there is currently no pope, you can eat meat on Fridays in Lent. It turns out that is not true. But no worries, Chef Kevin will have several fish options for Lent.

Misc. Draft Beer Notes

For reasons that only multinational corporations understand, Franziskaner is not available at the moment. ABInbev moves in mysterious and heavy handed ways. Franziskaner was the only beer that we pretty much never rotated. In it's place at the moment is Paulaner, another Munich hefeweizen. After we do a nice run of Paulaner, we will will rotate in Hacker-Pschorr, another Munich hefe, and then Hoffbrau, which is yet another Munich hefe. Let us know which you like best. Either by telling a bartender, or by emailing me (scoats@hopangel.com).

Ayinger Celebrator is a great doppelbock from just outside Munich. Ayinger's beers tend to be pricey and only in small barrels, which why we usually only offer them as small pours. At least the quality matches the cost. Ayinger makes some great beers and Celebrator is no exception.

Penn Weizen is a hefe weizen from Pittsburgh. Penn Brewing is one of the original US microbreweries from way back in the 1980s. They have always specialized in German style beers. Once Penn kicks, we have a couple barrels of Boulder Sweaty Betty. Boulder is out of Boulder Colorado. They are also one of the original crop of US microbreweries from the 1980s. Sweaty Betty is one of my favorite beers.

Neshaminy Creek Dunkelweisse is a dark wheat beer from one of the area's newest breweries. They are located up in Bristol, Bucks County. Dunkelweisse is a tough style to brew and few breweries make the effort. Neshaminy Creek really nailed it with this one. This is a try it while it lasts beer.

Old Forge Overbite is currently on our IPA line. Gina Gilbert was really digging on it Saturday night. Old Forge, out of Danville PA, has ties to Fox Chase, so it's always nice to give them some support. They make great beer, so supporting them is painless. Sly Fox Odysessy IPA is dues up after Overbite,

Dark Horse Tres Blueberry is a really tasty blueberry stout. Blueberry and stout go together so well. This is a delicious beer. It only comes around once year.
