Tuesday at 8:30pm, it's Quizzo with Quizlord Ryan. Fun, prizes, questions, answers, no cover.
On Wednesday, it's a home coming for Old Forge founder/brewer Damien Malfara. Damien is a Fox Chase native. He and his wife live in Danville PA, where they opened Old Forge, a really great brewpub. About a year ago, they started canning some of their beers about block away from the brewpub. For Germany Comes from Danville, we will have four Old Forge German style beers on tap, Black Pilsner, Shermanator Doppelbock, Rauchbier (smoked lager), and Ludwig's Lager which is a festbier. Sorry no roggenbier. We will also cans of their IPA and their Belgian blonde ale.
On Friday, WMGK will be broadcasting from our dining room, from 2pm to 7pm, Andre Gardner and crew will bring the jams and some swag.
Meanwhile in Mayfair, click here to see what is going on at the Grey Lodge this week.
Draft Beer Review
Here's a quick run down of some of the beer we have on tap or on deck.
Brooklynner Wiesse, one of my favorite wheat beers, is back on tap. This wheat beer really benefits from the freshness of being brewed nearby.
The third and final keg of Erdinger Oktoberfest Hefeweizen has been tapped. Eriding is a town just outside of Munich. For some reason, their festbier is a hefe ale rather than a marzen lager. It's tasty so why ask why?
Due after the Erdinger kicks, is Green Flash Festbier . I'm really looking forward to this one. Green Flash, a San Diego brewery, has been here in Philly for years now. Their West Coast IPA has been a long time hit. This is the first time we've seen a festbier from them.
The current IPA on tap is Great Divide Titan, from Denver Colorado. It's a great one. After that we have Half Acre Daisy Cutter from Chicago. I've drank a lot of beer and Daisy Cutter is one that really stands out. It's awesome.
Duck Rabbit is a North Carolina brewery in the middle of nowhere that specializes in dark beers. Currently we have their schwarzbier (black lager) on tap. Many of my favorite beers are from Duck Rabbit (their Milk Stout and Hoppy Bunny), this is another beer I can't wait to try.
And of course we will have at least three German style beers from Old Forge on tap on Wednesday.
